TEENAGE tap dancer Matthew Flinders is celebrating a triple success.

The Cowcliffe 16-year-old has won a place in the final of the Dance Master UK contest, which takes place in June.

The achievement comes after the Rastrick High School pupil won two competitions last month.

Matthew took the International Dance Teachers Association’s Ken Dodd Award and the South and West Yorkshire Senior Tap Championship.

Mum Georgia Parkinson, 43, said yesterday: “We’re very proud of him and he’s worked extremely hard to get where he is.

“Getting through to the Dance Master UK final is the pinnacle.”

Matthew has been tap dancing for eight years and practises four or five times a week.

Georgia said: “When he finishes his A-levels, he wants to go to a dance college in London and then on to the West End or Broadway”.
