NURSERIES and playgroups across Huddersfield are taking part in Beep Beep! Day - aimed at saving young lives on the roads.
It is staged by Huddersfield-based charity Brake, which claims there is a desperate lack of road safety education for the under-fives.
Brake is encouraging nurseries and playgroups to reverse the situation by giving simple road safety lessons.
The move comes after latest figures show 24 children under the age of five are injured on roads every day, with one fatality a week.
Brake chief executive Mary Williams said: "Nurseries and playgroups can play a crucial role in educating impressionable toddlers about the basic rules of road safety."
The charity has created a list of Beep Beep! Day activities.
