HAWAII came to Kirkheaton when the Foresters Friendly Society held a fundraising event for two UK bowel cancer charities.

Beating Bowel Cancer received £700 as a tribute to former society member Steve Bewick, who recently died from bowel cancer.

Guests participated in beach games, hula dancing and limbo dancing, as well as dressing in Hawaiian clothing and eating Hawaiian food.

Eddie Fisher, society secretary, said: “We’re pleased that members have been able to help make a real difference to bowel cancer fundraising efforts.

“The society has a long history of fundraising for local charities.”
