A FORMER assistant chief of West Yorkshire Police has been appointed chief constable for the force.

Mark Gilmore, formerly the Assistant Chief Constable for West Yorkshire, was given the force’s top job this morning.

Mr Gilmore served in his previous role for West Yorkshire Police between 2009 and 2011 before he was appointed Deputy Chief Constable for Northumbria Police.
