Former Huddersfield Town and Northern Ireland international footballer Bobby Campbell, 57, and his wife Paula, 56, have been charged with fraud.

They will face a court over three offences of fraud.

The charges of ‘fraud by abuse of position’ relate to a period when the couple were stewarding Lindley WMC, from December 30, 2011 to December 30, 2012.

They were both bailed and are due to make their first appearance at 10am at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 28.

The charges follow a long-running police investigation which began in July last year.

The amount of money the couple are alleged to have taken is £9,629.50.

The couple spent 25 years at Lindley WMC prior to the police investigation beginning.

Since it began the couple have continued to live on Brian Street – almost directly opposite the club.
