Burt Kwouk, best known for playing Cato Fong in the Pink Panther films, has died peacefully at the age of 85, his agent has said.

Kwouk also starred in the hit BBC comedy series Last of the Summer Wine.

A statement said: “Beloved actor Burt Kwouk has sadly passed peacefully away 24th May.

“The family will be having a private funeral but there will be a memorial at a later date.”

Herbert W “Burt” Kwouk, who was awarded an OBE for his acting career, was an English actor, known for his role as Cato.

he made his debut in the 1964 release: A Shot in the Dark in the Pink Panther films series.

He was also well known for his many television appearances including his portrayal of Major Yamauchi in the British drama series Tenko and, later, as Entwistle in Last of the Summer Wine.
