A former Huddersfield teacher is behind bars - after two decades of child abuse.

Stephen Scholes, who was also a Scoutleader in the town, has been locked up for six years.

He appeared at Leeds Crown Court this afternoon to face 21 charges of sex abuse, spread over a period from the mid 1970s to 1997.

Scholes, 68, of Newsome Road South, Newsome , had admitted the charges.

He taught at several schools in Huddersfield and Dewsbury and was also heavily involved with Scouting in Huddersfield.

The sex abuse charges involved a series of offences against 12 boys.
