A FORMER Huddersfield University lecturer has been appointed chairman of a new mental health watchdog.
Colin Parker, 68, will chair the South West Yorkshire Mental Health Trust's patients' forum.
The forum will scrutinise the work of the trust, which specialises in patients with a mental illness and mental handicap.
The trust covers hospital and community services in Huddersfield, Calderdale, Dewsbury and Wakefield and has 2,500 staff. Mr Parker, of Fenay Crescent, Almondbury, is the father of two grown-up daughters, one of whom has a mental handicap.
Mr Parker is a former member of the defunct Huddersfield Community Health Council.
