Four people have been arrested after a fight at Dewsbury’s Asda store last night.

The drama unfolded when men were seen throwing punches at each other in the store and staff and security were forced to intervene.

The group were removed from the store and police were called when the trouble continued to escalate outside.

Police attended and four men aged between 19 and 29 were subsequently arrested.

One of the suspects involved outside the store was allegedly armed with an axe which has been recovered.

Det Insp Andy Leonard of Kirklees CID said: “We responded to disorder at an Asda Store in Mill Street West, Dewsbury at 11.45pm last night (Wed). Five men were involved in an altercation inside the store.

“Staff intervened and assisted them in leaving the store.

“No staff or members of the public were injured.

“A number of the men suffered minor injuries. A weapon which was seen outside the store has been recovered.”
