Four people have appeared in court accused of falsely claiming that they had been injured in a bus crash.
Jadie Hewitt, 21, of Meltham Road, Lockwood; Ajmer Singh, 30, of Thornleigh Road, Crosland Moor; Jaspal Singh, 42, of Beagle Avenue, Beaumont Park; and Dilbir Singh, 39, of Swan Lane, Lockwood, were before Kirklees magistrates.
They all face a charge of fraud by false representation.
Andy Wills, prosecuting, said that on January 30 an Arriva bus collided with a gate at Dewsbury Bus Station.
This caused some injury to the passengers on board.
One of them was Sukhpal Singh who received £5,000 compensation from the company for his whiplash injury.
Mr Wills said that Mr Singh’s brother, Jaspal Singh, also made a claim for compensation but had not been on the bus.
He said that the other defendants also made similar false claims.
All four gave no indication as to what their pleas to the charge will be.
Magistrates committed them to stand trial at Leeds Crown Court, where they will first appear on October 1.
Unconditional bail was granted.
