FOUR people were in a Paddock house when a chip pan caught fire.
A woman put the pan on at the Longwood Road house at 1.10am today - then fell asleep.
She woke up when smoke drifted into the lounge.
A man smothered the flames with a damp cloth.
Another couple were upstairs.
All are in their late teens or early 20s and were unhurt.
The fire caused a lot of heat and smoke damage to the kitchen and filled the rest of the house with smoke.
Firefighters fitted smoke detectors before they left.
