A GIRL who was thrown 10ft from a horse over a bridge is improving in hospital, police have confirmed.
The 16-year-old sustained a fractured skull and a broken collar bone in the accident at Ellistones Lane, Greetland on Monday.
She was rescued from a two-foot deep beck by firefighters and ambulance workers and flown to HRI by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The horse was also seriously injured and was destroyed at the scene by a vet.
A police spokeswoman said the teenager would remain in hospital for the next few days to recover.
