FREE compost bins are on offer from Kirklees Council - but they are going fast.
More than 300 people phoned the council's environmental services section requesting a free bin within an hour of the offer.
The black compost bins are delivered to residents' homes free.
Over the last 10 years Kirklees Environmental Services has distributed more than 20,000 low-cost or no-cost compost bins.
The Government has provided the money for this latest scheme.
People who take up the offer will:
* Produce free compost which can be used to improve flower beds, pots and tubs. Most bought compost is peat-based, so by making their own compost, they will be helping to protect the environment.
* Produce less rubbish and avoid numerous trips to the household waste and recycling centres with grass cuttings and other garden waste.
* Help avoid garden fires which are a nuisance to neighbours and cause smoke pollution.
Each bin comes with a user guide .Anyone who would like a bin must live in Kirklees.
