FREE Christmas and New Year minibus services will be available in some areas of Huddersfield.
Several organisations have taken up an offer of a grant from Kirklees Council to organise services.
The grant money will pay for vehicle hire and fuel and the organisations are providing volunteers to run the services. Passengers will travel free on all the services.
Metro buses will not run on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.
The volunteer services include:
* The Holmfirth Branch Line will operate their usual Holmfirth-Shepley service over the Christmas and New Year Holiday.
* On Boxing Day an hourly Holmfirth to Huddersfield service will operate on the 314 route. For details call 07780 794860
* Also on Boxing Day Roger Batley, courtesy of Stotts Bus & Coach, will operate a Holme Valley Link service from Scholes via Holmfirth to Huddersfield and the Royal Infirmary. For details call 01484 683318
* The Meltham and Netherton community volunteers will continue to run free festive buses around Meltham and into the town centre via Netherton: Christmas Eve (10.30-11.30pm); Christmas Day (9am-12noon by request only on number below); Boxing Day (10am-5pm); New Year's Eve (10.30-11.30pm); New Year's Day (10am- 5pm). * The Green Party is operating an hourly from Berry Brow to Huddersfield and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. Christmas Eve & New Year's Eve (10-11pm); Christmas Day (12noon-4pm); Boxing Day & New Year's Day (9am-9pm). For details call 01484 533451.
