A MOCK election was among the attractions when thousands of new students converged for Huddersfield University's Freshers' Fair.
The newcomers were encouraged to vote for their favourite character - from a choice of Superman, Wolf Man and cartoon animals Garfield and Scooby Doo.
The aim was to make students aware of the part they can play in electing officials of the university's Students' Union.
The Freshers' Fair - at Huddersfield Sports Centre - also provided information about almost 50 university clubs and societies which students can join.
There was also advice about managing money, health, crime prevention and fire safety.
Students' Union marketing manager Kasia Baldwin said: "We sent leaflets about the Freshers' Ball to 3,500 new students and we had a good response.
"The event provides new students with a good introduction to the university and the start of the academic year."
