FRI PM: WWII grenade blown up by bomb squad in Golcar

A 300ft cordon has been imposed around Leymoor Road in Golcar after reports that an explosive device has been found.

6.15pm

ARMY bomb squad experts have blown up a WWII grenade which had been discovered in Golcar.

The grenade, which was believed to have been found in the cellar of an empty house, was blown up by the ordnance team.

Police had thrown a 300-ft cordon around the device in Leymoor Road.

BOMB Squad technicians are currently on site in Golcar after an explosive device was found.

Local reports suggest the device may be a WWII grenade or shell.

The army experts intend to remove the device and detonate it.
