FRIENDS of a car crash victim are organising a fun run round six pubs in his memory.

Stephen Rushworth, of Brighouse, and his 15-year-old daughter Shannen were killed when they were involved in a three-vehicle smash at Bailiff Bridge on August 6.

His friends are now raising money to help his parents, Jeffrey and Elizabeth Rushworth, pay for a memorial stone for Stephen’s grave.

Friend Zoe Gorman said: “My boyfriend, David Drummond, was one of Steve’s best friends and they used to train together.

“It was a shock to us all when it happened; everyone was really upset.

“We want to raise some money to help his parents pay for a memorial stone for Stephen.

“It’s a chance to remember him.”

Stephen was a welder at Walker Brothers in Elland. His silver Golf GTi was in collision with a car and a van on Birkby Lane.

The fun run will start at Bar C1 on Kirkgate in Huddersfield town centre and visit six pubs before finishing at the Gas Club on Gasworks Street, Hillhouse.

At the end of the run there will be a fundraising night and charity auction.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 27, starting at 5pm and anyone is invited to attend or contribute towards the cause.
