Today is deadline day for people to sign up as volunteers for next year’s Tour de France.

Thousands of volunteers are being urged by the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire, Mark Burns-Williamson, to get involved in one of the biggest events ever to be staged in the region.

He has been invited to sit on the governing board of the Tour de France that comes to Huddersfield on July 6 and is now urging locals to get involved with the volunteering opportunities after Asda and Welcome to Yorkshire announced their partnership to recruit 10,000 volunteers in their first ever Tour Maker programme.
