There was fun on the ground and in the air at Upperthong Gala.

Crowds flocked to the village cricket field for what organisers had termed The Big Thong Ender and were delighted with a variety of activities including a spectacular flypast by an RAF Spitfire.

Down on the ground a lot of attention was focussed on the gala’s Welly Wangers, who took part in a fierce competition. There were also giant inflatables, face painters, children’s games and musical entertainment.

Sarah Gwynne, one of the organisers, said: “It was a fabulous day and the weather came good in the end.

“A lot of hard work goes into organising the event but it was all worthwhile”.
