A MAJOR fundraising drive has been launched to help Honley Male Voice Choir celebrate its 75th anniversary.
The choir received a boost with a donation of £3,000 from a secret benefactor to kickstart the project.
The money will be used to pay for a luxury cruise for two, which will be the first prize in a raffle being run by the choir.
The draw will be launched tomorrow at 7.30pm at a social evening attended by choir members, relatives and supporters at the YMCA Rugby Union club at Laund Hill.
Tickets are £5 and include supper and entertainment by choir members.
Mr Brian Winterbottom, chairman of the committee which is organising events for next year’s anniversary, said: “We are very grateful to the supporter who has given us this very generous donation.”
The choir expects to raise £10,000 to fund a trip to a major musical festival, a gala concert and a dinner.
