MEMBERS of the Huddersfield Sea Cadet Unit received a boost to funds from restaurant owner Vicki Ridgway.

The Unit is raising money to go to sea in July.

Miss Ridgway, owner of the Keys Restaurant at Huddersfield Parish Church, handed them a cheque for £150 – proceeds of a raffle held at the venue in March. The Rev David Earl, Chaplain to the Sea Cadets in Huddersfield received the cheque on their behalf.

Sub Lt Craig Dawson said: “The cadets are raising money for 16 of our members to take a voyage from Newcastle to Arbroath aboard a power vessel.

“For most this will be their first time at sea. It will help to build their confidence and will provide invaluable experience.”
