THE funeral took place today of a Huddersfield student who died in an accident.
Ben Randall, 21, was killed in an accident involving a forklift truck in Roundhay Park, Leeds, a week ago. His funeral was taking place at lunchtime today at St John's Church, Kirkheaton, followed by burial in the churchyard.
Ben was a second-year BSc honours student at the University of Huddersfield, where he was studying health and sports studies.
A university spokesman said: "It is a terrible tragedy. He was a very popular student and people are terribly upset."
Ben represented the university at rugby and had also played with the Huddersfield Rugby Union Club academy sides.
He also played a handful of games for Moldgreen Rugby League Club.
Ben lived with his mother Jean in Wakefield Road, Dalton. He leaves a sister Ruth and two brothers, David and Tom.
* A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed pending further inquiries.
