ONE-WAY restrictions on three more Kirklees bridges have been criticised by a Tory councillor.
Clr Martyn Bolt has hit out at measures brought in to meet new EU rules on bridge load-bearing capacities.
The measures are to make bridges safe for huge 44-tonne trucks.
Single lane working is soon to be introduced on Dalton Bank road bridge in Huddersfield, the Ravensthorpe railway bridge and Calder river bridge, also in Ravensthorpe.
One-way restrictions are already in force in Kings Mill Lane, Whiteacre Street at Deighton and in Milnsbridge.
"It seems that no thought has been given to local people. As usual we are having to dance to the European tune," said Mirfield Mayor Clr Bolt.
Former truck driver Clr Bolt said improvements should be EU-funded.
He also suggested banning HGVs from minor roads.
