A HUDDERSFIELD businessman just missed out on his target time at this year’s London Marathon – but has still raised more than £1,000 for charity by his efforts.

Jamie Watson, managing director of Edgerton-based Fusion IT, completed the 26-mile race in 3hrs 5mins, but had hoped for a sub-3hrs time.

He said: “I was about 10 seconds in front of James Cracknell – who finished in 2hrs 59mins – for the majority of the race until I had unscheduled stop at mile 20 for the toilet!

“Unfortunately I couldn’t make up the time. I had nothing else left give for the last five miles.”

Jamie also competed in last year’s London Marathon when he missed out on the 3hr target by just 24 seconds.

He said his time should be good enough to get him an automatic place for next year when he will try to break the 3hr barrier once more.
