A BUSINESSMAN is taking part in the London Marathon for the second time next month – with two ambitions in mind.

Jamie Watson, managing director of Edgerton-based Fusion IT, aims to raise as much money as possible for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

And he is determined to complete the 26 miles in less than three hours – having just missed out on that target time last year.

Recalling his 2011 efforts, Jamie said: “The day was amazing and something that I will cherish for life. My aim was to do the run in a sub-three hour time. Unfortunately, I missed out by a measly 24 seconds.”

This year, Jamie has already taken part in the Spen 20 at Cleckheaton and will run the Coniston 14 in the Lake District at the end of this month. He has also registered for the Lakeland 50-mile Ultra Run at the end of July.

Jamie raised more than £2,000 for the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust in last year’s London Marathon. This year he is running for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust after the daughter of friends was diagnosed with the life-changing condition.

Jamie said: “Last year, it was people’s generous donations and the crowd that made me push that bit harder! I am sure this year it will have the same effect and also help hundreds of children with cystic fibrosis at the same time.”
