A GOLCAR man has struck lucky at cards.
Russell Shaw, 43, from Golcar, has become the first person to scoop a jackpot win at Grosvenor Casino in Huddersfield while playing `Super Stud Poker'. He netted £8,243.67 from a £1 bet.
The national game links the Grosvenor Casino in Huddersfield with 33 other Grosvenor Casinos across the country to allow players to play for an ever- increasing prize pot of hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Well over £5m has been paid out in prize money this year.
Mr Shaw said: "I looked at my cards and then put them down.
"I doubted what I saw and had to have another look. It's a great feeling holding a winning hand and I found it really difficult to sleep that night."
