A MAN is in hospital after he was punched to the ground and kicked in Netherton.
The 41-year-old was driving through Netherton Fold with his girlfriend just before 10.30pm when he stopped to complain to a gang of youths who kicked a football at his car.
He was punched to the ground and then savagely kicked.
Shocked local people alerted the police and ambulance.
The victim is now in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with head injuries.
The group were believed to be aged 14 to 16 and were wearing hooded tops.
The man's girlfriend is in shock and has still to be interviewed by police.
