A LANDSCAPING company in Huddersfield is helping Bradford go green.

Landscape Creations, of Crosland Moor, is laying turf to cover more than 8,200sq ft of the city's Centenary Square.

Nine workers from the company will use special machinery for the three-day task of laying the grass on the paved square, starting on Monday .

The project is part of efforts to transform the square into a giant garden.

It will be open to the public from Thursday to Sunday as part of summer entertainments organised by Bradford Council.

Features will include small trees and flowers, a storytelling area with a rustic log, a sensory garden, a maze and paths made of cobbles, gravel and wood chip.

Ben Stirling, of Landscape Creations, said: "We are more used to landscaping private gardens, so this is an unusual contract for us.

"We will be on hand throughout the event, watering the turf every evening - unless it has rained - to ensure it stays in good condition."
