A TEENAGER from Huddersfield took part in a national competition to find the models of the future.

Gemma Davy, of Kirkburton, had beaten 4,200 other hopefuls to get through to the last 20 of the Top Model UK competition in London at the weekend.

Although she did not make the top three, getting so far has put her in the spotlight and she hopes something may still come of it.

Last year several finalists were approached by model agencies and have gone on to work as models.

And when Gemma was at London Fashion Week in February she was approached about the possibility of work, but was unable to pursue this as one of the rules of the weekend’s competition was that she does no professional work.

Her mum, Nicola – a community care officer for Kirklees Council – said: “Gemma did really well in the final and, fingers crossed, something will still come of it.’’
