There were nervous moments for TV viewers backing Huddersfield singer Georgia Harrup on The Voice TV show on Saturday night.

The 27-year-old delivered a stunning version of  Ray Charles' Hallelujah I Love Her So but it appeared that her quest for stardom in the TV talent show could end prematurely as none of the judges appeared as though they would turn their chairs to signal they wanted her as part of their team.

But just as the song ended Welsh legend Sir Tom Jones hit the button to signal his approval - and that he wanted the Lepton-based vocalist as part of his group.

Australian superstar Kylie Minogue congratulated Georgia and admitted she'd missed out. Talking about raising her hand to press her button, Kylie said: "I was on the up when it finished and I missed the down."

Black Eyed Peas star and judge Will.I.am said pretty Georgia looked younger than her years, to which she replied: "That'll come in handy when I'm 40 won't it!"

Kaiser Chiefs frontman and Yorkshire lad Ricky Wilson said he "had no good reason" for not turning his chair.

He added: "You look like 18 but sound so experienced. I think you will go a long way in this competition."

Georgia even had time to quiz Sir Tom on whether he'd met Ray Charles, one of her favourite artists, and he admitted he had and sung with him on a TV show.

Georgia is now through to the so called 'battle-rounds' of the competition, where she will compete to be put through to the later stages of the TV show.
