She did her home town proud!

Huddersfield singer Georgia Harrup is through to the next round of the TV talent show The Voice.

She won through a tense “Battle Round” against fellow competitor Leverne Scott-Roberts to make it into next weekend’s knockout rounds.

And after that, she is hoping for a spot in the live shows.

Georgia, 27, of Lepton, admits she was out of her comfort zone to win through on Saturday night.

She and Leverne were asked to sing Taylor Swift’s song “22” and the Huddersfield singer admits it was a difficult one.

““I wouldn’t have picked a song like that myself”, said Georgia, who admits she favours more classy jazz numbers.

“It is not the type of song I would normally song which meant I was out of my comfort zone, but we talked about it with the coaches and the producers.

“I hope I did it justice”.

After her performance, Georgia tweeted: “So much respect for @LeverneScott you really brought out the best in me so thank-you! I really do wish you all the best for the future xx”.

The pair brought a great reaction from the studio audience, who were on their feet encouraged by Georgia’s energetic delivery.

So too was her mentor, Sir Tom Jones, who was joined by “famous friend” Tinie Tempah to help him decide on the winners.

Now Georgia - who started singing as a child in church - is hoping to win through next weekend.

She is one of seven singers left in “Team Tom”.

In the Knockouts, the coaches must reduce their teams of seven down to their top three artists to progress to the Live Finals.

The singers get the chance to each choose just one “Killer Song” they think will give them the very best chance to impress their coach and win a spot in the final 12. e through to the Live Finals.

The live finals will be first time the artists perform on live television and face the public vote. Every week, the teams will lose one artist and by the final, one artist from each team will remain to sing to be crowned winner of The Voice.
