GRAFFITI artists have caused damage to a Huddersfield subway.

The walls of the subway off New Hey Road, Mount, have been scrawled on over the month or so.

David Lockwood, of Moorlands Crescent, Mount - who took the photo - said: "Graffiti has been daubed on the walls in the past, but nothing as bad as this.

"Children walk through the subway on their way to Outlane Junior School. It must be very intimidating for them."

The subway runs under a dual carriageway stretch of road in a 40mph zone and is the only safe way to cross.

A Kirklees Council spokesman said: "We will remove the graffiti as soon as possible. If it is racist graffiti, it will be given priority."
