HUDDERSFIELD was given a glimpse of Rugby League silverware yesterday.

Shoppers and schoolchildren were treated to a close-up of the Powergen Challenge Cup during a flying visit to Huddersfield.

And Giants players took ownership of the cup for a day, after Sunday's victory over York put them in the semi-finals for the first time in 33 years.

The silverware was on show in the Kingsgate shopping centre - and at Hade Edge County Junior and Infant School, Holmfirth.

Richard Thewlis, general manager of the Giants, said: "If we win this trophy we are going to display it by building a cabinet in the wall of the shopping centre."

Huddersfield are the only Yorkshire team left in the contest.

They will face either St Helens, Wigan or Warrington in the draw tonight. The final is in Cardiff on May 15.
