GENEROUS Yorkshire folk are being asked to dig deep again this year to help needy children in Eastern Europe and Africa.
The region gave 83,000 shoe boxes full of gifts to Operation Christmas Child last year.
The boxes are sent out from warehouses, including one in Meltham, to poor children in Mozambique, India, Bosnia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia and Romania.
Regional spokesman Steve Whaley said: "We are very proud of the tremendous contribution that Yorkshire communities have made over the years.
"But we need to keep this great effort going, because sadly there are many places where children are left with nothing through war, poverty and natural disasters."
