A girl has been badly hurt in an accident at Honley .

She was flown in the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary with what police described as “serious but non life-threatening injuries”.

The girl, thought to be aged 12, was in collision with a car in Woodhead Road, Honley, shortly before 3pm.

Police have closed the busy road in both directions.

The accident happened close to the junction with New Mill Road at 2.57pm.

The car driver is not thought to have been injured.

Police were carrying out extensive investigations at the scene.

A witness said: “There were a couple of ambulances as well as a number of polcie vehicles, including a police video van”.

Traffic is being diverted through Magdale and Honley around the site of the accident.
