A charity bonfire can go ahead after travellers moved off their Elland site.

Elland Round Table members had worried about being able to stage their annual bonfire and firework display after travellers set up camp on the Hullen Edge recreation ground.

But Calderdale Council have now confirmed the travellers left on Sunday and the site has been cleared for Round Table volunteers to start setting up their equipment.

The council had moved to get an eviction notice for the travellers.

The event is on Saturday, November 1.
