TRAIN operator GNER yesterday launched its first train to feature wireless internet capability throughout its length on its East Coast Main Line service.

Trials of the new technology on board first class coaches in selected trains proved so successful it was decided to expand the service to more trains and to make it available to both first and standard class passengers.

Passengers throughout the train will be able to read and send emails, check the latest news and sports results and even shop online- and check the latest train service information while they travel.

GNER is the first UK rail company to achieve this technological breakthrough, by providing uninterrupted coverage while travelling at speeds of up to 125mph. No other UK rail company has yet been able to do this in a moving vehicle.
