If you’re going out this weekend take a brolly just in case – and a cardigan at night.

Examiner weatherman Paul Stevens reckons it’s not going to be a bad weekend weather-wise with decent temperatures and sunny spells by day but soon feeling chilly by early evening.

Friday’s torrential showers have cleared but there could still be the odd downpour in between the sunny spells on Saturday and Sunday.

Temperatures in the sunshine will be around average for the time of year – 18C or 64F – but by 8pm the thermometer will quickly plummet down to as low as 7C (44F), which is quite cool for mid-summer.

Mr Stevens said those kind of temperatures were more common in mid-September and warned that the wind could also pick up into next week.

The short-term outlook is wet and windy with no sign of any prolonged heatwave well into August.

“It’s looking unsettled and windier,” said Mr Stevens.
