A VILLAGE festival could benefit from thousands of pounds of funding.

The organisers of Golcar Lily Day have asked Kirklees Council for £2,500 to help finance May’s event.

The money would go towards the £14,320 running costs – which include plant hire, publicity, St John Ambulance, insurance and entertainment.

The council’s Valleys Committee will decide on the funding at a meeting at Golcar Providence Church at 7pm tonight.

Organisers of Golcar Lily Day are contributing £11,820 from their own funds to the event on May 14.
