Police have arrested a third man in connection with a murder investigation in Huddersfield which saw a 22-year-old man lose his life.

At 2am on Sunday police were called to Elmfield Avenue, Golcar, following reports of a disturbance.

The victim was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where he died as a result of his injuries.

A post mortem was undertaken on Sunday afternoon the results of which are not yet known.

Police immediately launched a murder enquiry with more than 20 officers taking part and within hours two men aged 23 and 34 were soon arrested on suspicion of murder.

Hours later a third man, aged 17-years-old, who police wanted to speak to in connection with the incident was also arrested.

Several bouquets of flowers were laid near the scene expressing condolences and disbelief that the young man would not be seen again.

A former school friend of the dead man who said he had been at Colne Valley High School with him, said: “He was a decent lad. I can’t believe what has happened.”
