A WOMAN downed a bottle of wine before stealing from a fast food restaurant and attacking two police officers.

Raphaela Natasha Heron admitted the theft from the Co-op store in Golcar on January 17.

Kirklees magistrates were told that she took the £5 bottle of red wine and left the store without paying.

She stood in the street outside and knocked back its contents.

The Huddersfield bench was told that the 20-year-old’s offending didn’t stop there.

That same evening she travelled to the town centre and went into McDonald’s on Kirkgate.

She stole three cheeseburgers from behind the counter.

Heron, of Marina Terrace in Golcar, was arrested and attacked the police officers in her drunken state.

In February she was given a 12-month community order for the assaults and second theft.

But the supermarket theft wasn’t dealt with at the same time.

Neil Murphy, defending, said that the time Heron was experiencing difficulties in her personal life.

He said that his client had sought solace in drinking and that’s what she did that day.

Magistrates ordered her to pay £5 compensation for the bottle of wine.
