A popular bar in Golcar must stop playing live amplified music after causing a noise nuisance to its neighbours.

Junction One in Knowl Road breached a noise abatement notice after a couple living close by, Brian and Dale Harley, repeatedly complained over the live Sunday bands.

The couple called in Kirklees Council's Environmental Health and inspectors found the sound of the music often drowned out their TV.

Environmental Health ordered a review of the bar's licence and a licensing panel, held today at Huddersfield Methodist Mission, decided to impose a restriction on the licence banning live amplified music.

The restriction does not come into force for 21 days and the hearing was told the bar's owners Andrew and Kathryn Ratcliffe, may appeal the decision.

If the club can cut out the noise nuisance it is likely the ban will be lifted.

Mr and Mrs Ratcliffe are seeking expert advice from a noise consultant.
