TWO former Sunday school teachers have celebrated their golden wedding.
Margaret and George Parton, both 74, of Hill Grove, Salendine Nook met as teenagers at Hawksworth Wood Parish Church, north-west Leeds.
Mrs Parton led the Guides and Mr Parton was in the choir. They married at the church and lived in Leeds, until Mr Parton's work brought them to Huddersfield.
He worked in the wages department of NHS hospitals in Leeds and then moved to St Luke's Hospital, Crosland Moor, in the early 1970s.
Mr Parton retired in 1986 as paymaster for Huddersfield hospitals.
Mrs Parton worked for the Chief Constable in Leeds, then for
adult education in Huddersfield.
After retiring, she gained a BA honours degree in combined arts at Huddersfield University.
The couple are in Huddersfield U3A.
They celebrated with a meal with family and friends.
