A COUPLE who met at a dance in Huddersfield have just celebrated their golden wedding.

John and Joyce Dyson, of Moorfield Road, Kirkheaton are marking the event with a trip to Blackpool and a family party.

Mrs Dyson, 74, grew up in Moldgreen. She left school

at 14 to start work at David Brown Tractors at Meltham.

After two years she joined the public health department. After six years she got a secretarial job at Armitage and Norton accountants in Huddersfield.

She left to raise a family.

Her husband, 73, grew up at Thongsbridge. He left school at 16, working as a sales rep before joining office furniture firm Hills Supplies in Cleckheaton.

They married at St Paul's Methodist Church in Dalton and have two daughters and a son.

Mrs Dyson enjoys gardening and her husband plays crown green bowls.
