A YOUNG Emley woman has achieved the gold standard in a national youth award scheme. Kirsty Donnan, 19, had previously gained her bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Over four years she carried out community tasks and exercises. These included playing cornet and trumpet in bands, running a Fair Trade stall, playing netball and working at summer camps. Kirsty is now studying physiotherapy at Northumbria University in Newcastle. She received her award at St James's Palace in London.
