PRIMARY school pupils in Huddersfield are being urged to take part in a sponsored silence for charity - by their favourite cartoon characters.
ACC milk is supporting Macmillan Cancer Relief's The Big Hush by promoting the sponsored silence - which takes place on Friday, February 13 - on special milk cartons featuring such favourites as the Mr Men and the Bash Street Kids.
ACC milk, part of the Co-operative Group, will deliver about 1m of the special cartons to more than 5,000 primary schools in England and Wales.
Robbie Burns, of ACC Milk, said: "The Big Hush is a novel way of keeping children quiet and raising vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Relief."
The charity employs specialist nurses in Huddersfield to care for cancer patients.
The Big Hush is in its eighth year and has, to date, raised nearly £1m. It is hoped that over £260,000 will be raised this year.
ACC Milk will promote Macmillan Cancer Relief on school milk cartons until Easter.
Mr Burns added: "I'm sure teachers will help youngsters to get involved in The Big Hush if it means five minutes' peace and quiet for them!"
