A robber who tried to snatch a gold chain from a woman’s neck in a busy public place, is being hunted by police.

The attack happened on Whitegate Road, Primrose Hill, on Good Friday at around 12.10pm.

The suspect, who had been standing on a bend between some houses and a wood, grabbed the 22-year-old victim by her throat and attempted to pull a gold chain from her neck as she walked past him.

But the robber ran off empty handed after some bystanders ran over to help her.

The suspect is described as a thin, mixed race man, in his early 20s, and between 5ft 6in and 5ft 8in. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue hooded top.

Det Con Nicola Keitch, of Kirklees District CID, urged anyone with any information to call Kirklees CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
