BUS chiefs in West Yorkshire have been praised for their Yellow Bus scheme.

Thousands of children, including hundreds in Huddersfield, are now bussed to school in the distinctive buses.

And Government officials believe it is a scheme that should be copied elsewhere. Department of Transport officials completed a study of the scheme and have now reported back to Metro. Metro’s director of corporate services Sheena Pickersgill said: “We are pleased the report recognises that through its successful Mybus yellow scheme, which has achieved a shift from cars of over 60% at primary schools and as high as 30% at some secondary schools, Metro has devised the most cost-effective way of delivering yellow bus services.”
