A man who was found dead at his home in Almondbury has been named as 60-year-old Graham Simmons.

Police were called to a house in Dartmouth Avenue, Almondbury at 4.45pm on Monday. Fire crews and police entered the property after unconfirmed reports that the man had been overcome by carbon monoxide fumes from a portable barbecue in a bedroom.

Detectives at Huddersfield CID have since ruled that the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

Det Inspector James Griffiths of Huddersfield CID said: “Officers were called to an address in Dartmouth Road on Monday at 4.45pm in relation to a sudden death of a 60-year-old man. A file will now be prepared for the coroner.”

Neighbours from adjoining houses were urged to leave their homes as fire officers dealt with the build-up of fumes.
