She's a gran to five grandchildren.

And she’s 70 years old.

But that didn’t stop Patricia Fuller flinging herself out of a plane at 15,000 feet above the Lincolnshire countryside to raise money for the Huddersfield-based Forget me Not Children’s Hospice.

Her tandem skydive came over Hibaldstow Airfield.

Mrs Fuller, of Dalton is a retired paediatric nurse with two sons, four grand-daughters and a grandson.

Mrs Fuller worked at St James Hospital in Leeds for many years before transferring to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and said: “As a former paediatric nurse I realise how important the hospice is for parents and families of children with life-limiting diseases.”

She said: “A friend of mine celebrated his 70th birthday by abseiling down the Central Services Building at the University of Huddersfield and I did that with him.

“I thought about doing the Three Peaks but although I love walking, 25 miles in 12 hours may be a bit much so I went for the parachute jump.

“It was a lovely day, exciting and horrible at the same time.

“I had jelly legs in the plane but the guy who jumped with me was very reassuring. He had been on the television days earlier when they filmed a scene starring some of the people in Emmerdale.

“Would do it again? I have to think it was a once in a lifetime experience but I am glad I did it”.

Mrs Fuller has already raised £300 but people can still back her by logging on to www.justgiving.com/Patricia-Fuller .
